Authorship Complaints

Life Sciences, Technology and Sustainability Education (LSTSE) recognizes that accurate authorship attribution is an essential component of research integrity and responsible scholarly communication. The journal is committed to ensuring that authorship reflects genuine intellectual contributions and that all contributors receive appropriate recognition for their work.

The journal provides a transparent procedure for handling authorship-related complaints, disputes, and concerns that may arise before or after publication. Authorship complaints may involve issues such as:

  • Uncredited contributors, where individuals who made substantial intellectual contributions to the research are not appropriately included as authors.
  • Unauthorized authorship inclusion, where individuals are listed as authors despite not meeting the journal’s authorship criteria.
  • Author order disputes, where authors disagree regarding the sequence of authorship or contribution recognition.
  • Changes in authorship, including requests to add, remove, or modify authorship information after manuscript submission.
  • Ghost authorship or honorary authorship, where authorship does not accurately represent actual contributions to the research.

All authors are encouraged to resolve authorship issues among themselves before submission whenever possible. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed authors have approved the manuscript submission, agreed with the authorship order, and confirmed their contributions according to the journal’s Authorship Criteria.

When an authorship complaint is submitted to LSTSE, the editorial team conducts an initial assessment to determine the nature of the concern and the appropriate course of action. The investigation process may involve communication with all relevant parties, including authors, contributors, institutions, and other individuals involved in the research process.

The journal may request supporting documentation, including:

  • Author contribution statements
  • Research records
  • Correspondence among authors
  • Institutional documentation
  • Evidence of intellectual contribution

During the investigation process, the journal maintains confidentiality and handles all complaints fairly and objectively. Editorial decisions regarding authorship changes are based on available evidence, agreement among involved parties, and compliance with recognized publication ethics standards.

If authorship concerns are identified after publication, the journal may take appropriate actions, including issuing corrections, updating authorship information, publishing editorial notices, or initiating further investigation when necessary. Any changes to published records are handled transparently to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the scholarly record.

LSTSE follows internationally recognized publication ethics principles, including recommendations from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), regarding authorship disputes and contributor recognition.
